Congratulations 3rd Grade and Colts

Under 19'sCongratulations to the Neddies Thirds (Championship A) who took out their 5th consecutive Premiership flag after defeating Mandurah 20-8 in Saturday’s Grand Final. That puts them only one Grand Final win behind the mighty Neddies Nomads, who won six on the trot from 1996-2001.
The win added to the silverware at Neddies after the club won the Premier WA Club Championship award (for a record 21st time), Coach of the Year Award (Gus Martyn), Premier Grade Top Try Scorer Award (Mike “Roo” Ruru) and Most Improved Player Award (Andries “Drey” van der Westhuizen).
And while the Colts fell agonisingly short in their epic Grand Final against Palmyra on Sunday, the Under-19s won the support and respect of the entire club and its supporters. This was the first year of our new Colts program – and for the boys to come within a whisker of taking out our first Colts flag since 2001 was a stunning achievement. Congratulations go out to coaches Phil Oddie and Luke Powell, manager Dan Cockburn, inspirational skipper Grayson Knapp and the team of dedicated players who tore into their work well before the season started and showed what guts and hard work can achieve.
What’s more, many of the Colts players got a taste of Premier Grade rugby this season including skipper Grayson, Louis Saunders-Loder, Kauri Cudd, Jermaine Ainsley, Tevin Ferris, Herschelle Classen and Wade Durrant, while fellow lock Sam Offer made the State Under-17 team and looks a future Premier Grade star for sure.
The great news is that most of the boys are eligible to play Under-19s again next season as Neddies continues its development focus on the Colts.
So let’s all get down to the club on Saturday August 30 to celebrate another successful year for Neddies as we look forward to another great season ahead in 2015.
