Round 3 saw Neddies return to The Foreshore in magical conditions on Saturday. The rugby festivities started early, with The Third Half supporters group hosting their first lunch of the season where premier grade coach Dogga outlined some of his goals and strategies for the season.
While Mandurah and Curtin featured in some of the earlier matches, Neddies, clapped onto the field by the mighty under-7s, took on a Wanneroo premier grade team looking for its first win of the season.
Things went pretty much to script in the first half as Neddies laid on three tries to Louis Saunders-Loder, Jesse Toto and Scott Stevens to go to the sheds with a 17-5 lead.
Lewis Marshall gave Neddies the bonus point with the first try of the second half before Louis crossed for his second of the day. Two more tries to Shane Hemi and Davis Tavita produced a final scoreline of 41-5.
Though he was unable to trouble the scorers, skipper Joe “Peanut” Richie marked his birthday with another barnstorming effort up front.
While rugby takes a break this Anzac Day weekend, Round 4 will see Neddies head to Allen Park to take on a resurgent Soaks on May 2, when the juniors also start their competition. Be there and wear your colours.
