The Steve Fink Award is described as acknowledging the junior club or clubs that not only show excellent organisational and administration skills, but also show initiatives that can benefit and grow the game not only for their own Club, but for the Rugby Community as a whole. “It is not judged on how many games are won or premierships are achieved. It is for the club that gets its players registered on time, has qualified coaches, has well organised team managers, has TSM’s in place and generally works well with the RWAJ’s Executive and RugbyWA.”

Neddies was acknowledged for the “Neddies Cubs” program for 3-5 year old girls and boys, which was one of many initiatives and achievements by the club in 2015. Neddies juniors also became the fastest growing of all the central clubs, continued to build and grow the hugely-successful “Neddies North” training base, hosted international touring teams at The Foreshore, established the Tom Fearn junior training clinic and went on an end-of-season rugby tour down south.

In addition, four Neddies junior teams (under-8s, under-10s, under-11s and under-12s) are heading to Singapore in the first week of December to compete in the international Centaurs junior tournament. And planning is well underway for another new initiative in 2016,  with Neddies entering girls sevens teams in the under-14 and under-17 grades.

The Steve Fink Award is recognition for the great contributions made by so many volunteers, coaches, managers, committee members and supporters at Neddies. In particular, it is recognition of the efforts and achievements of Kylie-Anne Drummond in her two years as Junior President and her successor Josh Mylne, who is determined to see the Neddies juniors continue to grow and prosper in the years to come.

The Steve Fink Award will sit proudly in the Neddies trophy cabinet with the WA Premier Club Champion Award and “the big three” premiership trophies – Premier Grade, Reserve Grade and Colts.

Bring on 2016!
