Ruru Wins PG Hampshire Award

Ruru Wins PG Hampshire Award

Ruru PGNeddies skipper Mike “Roo” Ruru has taken out the top prize in the RugbyWA competition, the 2016 PG Hampshire Award.

Roo becomes the 13th Neddies player to win the award, and the first since halfback Nathan Roberts in 2007. Other Neddies halfbacks to win the PG Hampshire over the decades include Mike “Spotty” Ryburn in 1992 and Graeme Holmes in 1980.

The award comes in the same year as Roo was crowned Player of the Tournament in the World Cup 10s in Mauritius.

Roo’s team mate Brody Lam took out the award for the leading try scorer in the premier grade competition after crossing the chalk 20 times during the competition (not counting his 2 against Palmyra in the semi-finals).

Roo and Brody will now have their sights set on the Sunday’s Grand Finals showdown with Wests at McGillivray Oval.

Well done Roo and Brody ….. and GO NEDDIES!!!
