What a great line-up we have again for this year’s Spirit of Rugby Long Lunch at Crown on Friday 8 September, presented by RugbyWA and The Future Force Foundation in conjunction with Nedlands Rugby Club.
Leading the show is our MC, NICK McARDLE from Fox Sports who will bring his normal polished delivery to guide us through the afternoon.
Nick will introduce the following:
ALAN JONES AO – Alan led the Wallabies to a Grand Slam in 1984 and clinched the Bledisloe Cup in 1986 with a win in Eden Park. 31 years later and we are still awaiting the next win at Eden Park! Also 31 years later in October Alan will make a return to the coaches box when he will be in charge of the Barbarians for 2 matches against the Wallabies!
DAVID WESSELS, unheralded Western Force Head coach when appointed for this season but is arguably the best the Force has had at the helm.
The following day’s Test Match Officials GLEN JACKSON and JOHN LACEY both started refereeing after retiring as players. Glen played for the Chiefs, Saracens and the Maori All Blacks while John played for Munster, Ireland “A” and Ireland Sevens.
DREW MITCHELL recently retired after a 14 year career with the Reds, Force, Tahs, Toulon and Wallabies. Drew had many milestones along the way with 71 Test caps, the most prolific Wallabies try scorer in Rugby World Cups (14), a hat-trick of Heineken Cups (2013 – 2015) and a Heineken Cup/Top 14 double in 2014.
