NEDDIES RUGBY UNION

Established in 1934, “Neddies” is the most successful rugby club in Western Australia. 2022 was another sensational season for Neddies, with the club making the finals in all senior grades, winning Premierships in Reserve Grade, Fourths and Colts. To cap it off, Neddies won the WA Premier Club Champion award for a record 24th year!

Nedlands has won the Premier Grade Premiership flag a record 18 times. Up to 2020, the Club also appeared in the finals of the Premier Grade competition for an astonishing 37 years in a row – a record which reflects the winning culture at Neddies. The club fields teams in all grades from Colts through to Premier Grade, catering for casual players who just want a run around the field to elite level players. We have a strong emphasis on coaching and skills development.

Neddies offers a warm and friendly family environment and welcomes players and supporters from all cultures and backgrounds.

We are looking forward to another exciting and successful season. If you would like to be part of the Neddies success story, we’d love to have you on board. Apart from new players, the club always extends a warm welcome to new coaches, managers, administrators, volunteers, committee members and, of course, supporters.

We have had a bit of activity at the club over the weekend with teams from Singapore, Perth Bayswater and South West Spirit visiting us, we have some Emerging players to announce, our scores and MotM but out of respect for Peanut and his family we will hold these off until mid week. Before we hit some radio silence we would like to take a moment to acknowledge an incredible act of care and composure on Saturday.Following Peanut’s injury during the third-grade match, Luke Paley, a Joondalup player stayed motionless, keeping his arm under Joseph’s head until the ambulance arrived — a good 45mins and to the point where his arm had turned white from lack of circulation - ensuring he remained stable and protected from further harm. It’s a gesture that speaks volumes about character, and one that hasn’t gone unnoticed. On behalf of our entire club, thank you. We’re deeply grateful. ... See MoreSee Less

Early in the first half of our third grade game, one of our brothers, Joseph Ritchie (aka Peanut), sustained a spinal injury during a match. A collapsed scrum resulted in a fractured C3 vertebrae and severe trauma to his spinal cord. Peanut is currently in Perth Hospital, facing an uncertain road to recovery.A proud dad of five, a loving partner to his fiancée Kelly, a loyal teammate, and a friend to so many. Since moving from New Zealand to Perth in 2009, he’s built a life centered around family, hard work, and community. Now, that life has been turned upside down. Doctors are still assessing the full extent of the damage. What’s clear is that the months ahead will be incredibly tough — emotionally, physically, and financially. There’s no certainty of full recovery, and the family’s world has changed overnight.Kelly will need to take leave from work to care for Peanut. The kids — especially their youngest, just 3 and 5 — will need ongoing support. The financial toll will be massive, and long-term.A fundraiser has been launched by Nigel and Hayley to help ease that burden — to support Peanut’s family through treatment, rehabilitation, home modifications, and the day-to-day costs that come when a family is suddenly in crisis.💥 If you can donate, please do.📣 If you can share, please spread the word.🤝 If you believe in backing your Nedlands brother, now is the time.Let’s rally around Peanut, Kelly, and the kids — not just as teammates, but as a family that cares. All details can be found on the fundraising page:🔗 www.facebook.com/share/1DTvCcqJAA/?mibextid=wwXIfr ...
